Animals survive in deserts by living underground or resting in burrows during the heat of the day. Many desert plants like cacti in the Americas are able to absorb and store water letting them survive long periods of drought. Some creatures get the moisture they need from their food so they dont need to drink much water if any.
Most of these animals are either crepuscular or nocturnal. Desert animals include coyotes and bobcats spiders such as the black widow scorpions rattlesnakes lizards and many kinds of birds all especially adapted to the desert biome. Semidesert habitats have enough rainfall to support more plant and animal life. Desert Bighorn Sheep- This sheep usually lives south of Armadillo. These animals can be found in drier more desert locations across the frontier.
In cold deserts youll see some medium-sized animals like coyotes kit foxes and badgers. The desert is a huge wide open space meaning there isnt much respite from the baking sun. Most of the animals who live in the desert are insects scorpions reptiles and spiders.
